Although immunotherapy is not as widely used as surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy, it has been approved to treat many types of cancer. It has been shown to be helpful in treating several types of cancer, including melanoma of the skin, non-small cell lung cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, head and neck cancers, liver cancer, lymphoma as well as solid tumours with a particular genetic feature known as mismatch repair or microsatellite instability.
