Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) uses the Elekta Synergy Platform which is designed to enable straightforward integration of the key imaging technologies that will transform an advanced linear accelerator into an IGRT system. Elekta Synergy has enabled clinicians, on a daily basis, to correct patient setup errors due to organ motion and increase treatment accuracy. It uses imaging tools like 3D volumetric cone beam imaging for soft tissue visualization; 2D real-time, fluoroscopic-like imaging for targets that move frequently; and 2D kV imaging for standard planar imaging.
Elekta Synergy Platform also features a sophisticated ultra-conformal field shaping with a fully integrated multileaf collimator, in addition to a 40 x 40 cm uninterrupted field size to simplify and refine treatment of larger-field targets.
This facility is available at Gleneagles Hospital.
